FAQ
Players ages 5–18 are welcome. Our age groups ensure safe, age-appropriate learning.
No. Beginners start at White Level and progress naturally.
CLUBHOOPS Combine™ is offered on a quarterly basis. Players must meet attendance requirements or be extended an invitation from a Master Skills Instructor.
If they demonstrate the required skills sooner, they can opt to attend a CLUBHOOPS Combine™ session and attempt to test for multiple levels during our quarterly evaluations as long as they meet the class attendance requirements or be extended an invitation from a Master Skills Instructor.
Comfortable athletic clothing and basketball shoes.
Classes focus on development; advanced groups introduce more competitive elements.
Not necessarily. If you are enrolled in one of our classes and meet the necessary attendance requirements, your athlete may qualify to attend CLUBHOOPS Combine™ and test for multiple levels.
Many older players have experience but lack proper footwork, mechanics, or basketball IQ.
This is common — and exactly why we offer season Clinics to allow players to quickly fill gaps and bring older players up to standard without skipping curriculum.
No.
Placement Level (Color T‑shirt) is based on skill, but class groups are still separated by age for:
• Safety
• Pace of instruction
• Maturity
• Social comfort
An older beginner will have beginner curriculum but will train in an age‑appropriate group and will be responsible for filling in fundamental gaps.
Because CLUBHOOPS is a development-based program, not a “placement program.”
Allowing athletes to skip foundational curriculum lowers training standards and dilutes the brand.
Every player, regardless of age, must earn their level through demonstrated skill.
No.
Players can accelerate, but they cannot skip.
Every Color Level has required skills, Tips, attendance minimums, and testing standards.
Older athletes can move through the levels quickly — but only by demonstrating mastery at each stage.
They are welcome to attend CLUBHOOPS Combine™ once they reach class attendance requirements and test for multiple levels.

Every player progresses at their own pace based on:
• Effort
• Commitment
• Attendance
• Home practice
• Coachability
Older players often progress faster because they mature physically and mentally — but standards never change.
Because the CLUBHOOPS curriculum builds:
• Correct footwork
• Proper shooting mechanics
• Advanced dribbling patterns
• Defensive discipline
• IQ and spacing concepts
Skipping foundational elements leads to plateauing and bad habits.
We ensure every player learns the complete literacy of basketball.
We understand this concern — and we explain to players:
• Levels are earned, not assigned
• Everyone starts somewhere
• Older players progress quickly once they show mastery
• Color Levels are about skill, not age
Most players are excited to level up as they improve — and younger kids often look up to dedicated older players.
Absolutely.
Older players can advance rapidly if they:
• Attend consistently (meet attendance requirements)
• Complete required curriculum
• Perform strongly during testing
• Receive an invitation from a Master Skill Instructor to attend a combine.
Effort and improvement determine speed — not age.
Even if they start at a lower Color Level, their age group will still include players of similar maturity.
Coaches will also provide:
• Advanced variations
• Higher intensity reps
• Competitive mini-games
• Supplemental home practice assignments
No athlete is ever “held back” unnecessarily.
Yes, all classes are continuous and you can join at any time. Memberships will be prorated based on when you sign up during the month.
