AGE REQUIREMENTS

 

CLUBHOOPS tournament events are based upon age eligibility:

10 & Under - An athlete can be no older than 10 on or before August 31, 2022. (Born on or after September 1, 2011)

11 & Under - An athlete can be no older than 11 on or before August 31, 2022. (Born on or after September 1, 2010) 

12 & Under - An athlete can be no older than 12 on or before August 31, 2022. (Born on or after September 1, 2009) 

13 & Under - An athlete can be no older than 13 on or before August 31, 2022. (Born on or after September 1, 2008) 

14 & Under - An athlete can be no older than 14 on or before August 31, 2022. (Born on or after September 1, 2007

TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES

  1. All players must have the same jersey color, with their individual numbers on the back. The first team listed is the home team and the home team will wear white (or lighter color jersey). Coaches must wear a mask at all times on the bench. If the coach refuses to wear a mask, the team may be assessed an administrative technical foul.

  2. 5-minute warm-ups – Time permitting - Clock starts immediately.

  3. Games will be played as scheduled. Game time is forfeit time.

  4. A team must have four players to start a game and three players to finish. Once a team is down to two players regardless of the score, the game is over and the team with two players loses.

  5. All boys divisions 6th Grade / 12U and up will use the full size 29.5 regulation basketball.

  6. All girls divisions, and boys divisions in 5th Grade and below will use the 28.5 size basketball.

  7. Players must compete in their own grade classification, with the exception that players in a lower grade may participate in an older division. 

  8. A player may only play for one team (per grade division) during the tournament. At the discretion of CLUBHOOPS, some age brackets may be combined based on team registrations or level of play.

  9. Coaches must check in at the registration table. A maximum of 2 coaches will be allowed free admission.

  10. Teams should arrive at least 20 minutes before game time. Remember, game time is forfeit time. 

  11. No refunds within 2 weeks of the tournament. CLUBHOOPS is not financially responsible for forfeits or weather conditions that cause game cancellations. The tournament expenses have been paid in advance.

  12. There is an admission charge for adults and children ages 5+ (coaches are free – max 2 per team).

 

TOURNAMENT RULES

 

Local state interscholastic rules are used with the following exceptions:

  1. Length of Game: Two 18-minute halves with running clock – clock stops during the last minute of the 1st half and the last 2 minutes of the 2nd half. The clock will also stop on time-outs, injuries and whenever the game is delayed (wet surface, ball stuck on the rim, referee discussions, etc.). 

  2. Timeouts: Three 1-minute timeouts per game, to be used in either half of the game. One additional timeout for overtime period. Any calls for a time-out after your limit will result in a technical foul.

  3. Overtime: If teams are tied at the end of regulation, the overtime period will be sudden death. The first point of any kind will end the game.

  4. Defense: All defenses are allowed, including zone & full court press. 

  5. The clock will continue to run if there is a 20-point lead (last 10 minutes only).

  6. Player fouls and team fouls will be played under the GHSA rules. This includes bonus and super bonus.

  7. Technical Fouls: All technical fouls are an automatic 2 points and the ball.

  8. Two technical fouls on a player or coach will result in immediate ejection and a suspension for the following game. The coach or player must leave the bench/game area immediately and may no longer participate in any way.

  9. Unsportsmanlike Conduct: In the event that a coach has been issued 2 technical fouls and will not leave the bench area, he/she will have to leave the building immediately or his/her team will be disqualified. The coach will not be allowed to coach any of the remaining games in the tournament.

  10. Coaches are responsible for fans and players. Abuse of officials by fans may result in technical fouls being called on the coach or ejection from the premises. Any unbecoming conduct, fighting, or use of profanity will result in a technical foul, ejection from the tournament facility, or elimination from the tournament or league (without refund).

  11. The referees have full authority on the court. Protests will not be allowed.

  12. CLUBHOOPS has the final authority on all rules and interpretations.

ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY

CLUBHOOPS has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for fighting, bullying, acts of aggression towards another, racial slurs, and discrimination by coaches, athletes, parents or spectators.

Coaches, athletes, parents and spectators are advised that any act of aggression will be met with severe consequences for team and club.  Please know and understand that formal criminal charges will be pursued. In addition, the team will be suspended from any CLUBHOOPS competition.  It is the coaches responsibility to maintain their teams sportsmanship. We suggest you print this policy and distribute it to your parents and athlete’s.  Fighting will not be tolerated.


SPECTATOR BEHAVIOR


CLUBHOOPS requires that all parents and spectators maintain good sportsmanship throughout the course of the event. We promote a great youth sports atmosphere, and we encourage everyone to cheer and get loud and support their son or daughters team. But do not let it get out of control. As an adult, please set a good example for all the children at this great event. If you are asked to leave the event, your son or daughter may be asked to leave with you. Your team may also forfeit the game. If a fight breaks out, the tournament supervisor will clear the court of all spectators if deemed necessary and no refunds will be given.
 
CLUBHOOPS will not tolerate any of the following:

  • Cursing by any parents

  • Yelling at game officials regarding calls

  • Yelling or arguing with fans of the opposing team

  • Any negative or derogatory comments towards opposing players

MISBEHAVIOR / EJECTIONS

  1. Any coach ejected for fighting will be ineligible for the remainder of the tournament.

  2. Athletes ejected for fighting are ineligible to participate in the team’s next game.  Additional penalties may be imposed.

  3. If a coach or athlete is ejected from a game for unsportsmanlike behavior (not fighting), he/she will be ineligible to participate in the next scheduled game

  4. If a coach or athlete is ejected a second time, he/she will be ineligible for the remainder of the tournament.

  5. Coaches or athletes who leave the bench area to engage coaches, athletes or officials on the playing floor, they may be suspended by CLUBHOOPS for any period up to the duration of the tournament.

  6. CLUBHOOPS may impose suspensions or other penalties for misbehavior which occur at any time and at any location during the event.

  7. CLUBHOOPS has the final say on all suspensions.
